Brief & Approach
eBay management team asked us to help design and launch an internal game-themed competition. The aim, to encourage eBay staff to take part and spend their money wisely with partnered sellers, from small businesses to charity causes.

Each week would focus on a different seller and cause and have a slightly different incentive for the 'players'.
Art Direction & Outcome
We decided to use an 8 bit aesthetic with lots of colour, not only to be eye catching but to also provide some nostalgia, and hopefully interest. We created a guide for designing these assets calling staff, 'Players', the competition weeks 'Levels' amongst other gamified language. Along with naming each week "Level 01" etc, we also chose a game inspire us, depending on the brief that week. For example for Level 01, named "flip For Charity", we chose gold coins as the identifiable image. This further supported the gamification of these challenges, but also created further nostalgia.
